North Idaho Dermatology is a comprehensive medical and cosmetic dermatology practice that has been serving Coeur d'Alene Idaho and the Inland Northwest region for more than a decade. From the beginning, our vision has been to provide patients with the highest quality medical and cosmetic dermatological care possible. Our history
In 1999, Stephen D. Craig, MD founded North Idaho Dermatology in a small office with a part-time nurse. Over the years, the practice has grown exponentially and now employs 37 staff members. In 2005 North Idaho Dermatology moved into a spacious new office. With 16 exam rooms, 4 procedure rooms for out-patient surgery, a treatment room for UVA/UVB and PUVA treatment, and three cosmetic and laser treatment rooms, we are fully equipped to assist you with all your skin care needs.

Meet the Team at North Idaho Dermatology

Stephen D. Craig, M.D.
Dr. Stephen D. Craig, an Idaho native, is a board-certified Dermatologist with the American Board of Dermatology. He received his medical training at the University of Utah, graduating in the top 5% of his class. He completed his internship at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, and was Chief Resident in Dermatology at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. He also served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Major. Dr. Craig opened North Idaho Dermatology in 1999 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to serve the needs of patients in North Idaho, Eastern Washington and Western Montana. Dr. Craig specializes in treating all age groups and a full range of dermatological conditions. He is married to Julie and has four children. In his spare time he enjoys family, fishing and Civil War history.

Benjamin C. Ringger, M.D.
Dr. Benjamin C. Ringger is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin where he graduated with the distinct honor of election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society as a junior medical student. He served as an intern at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin and completed his dermatology training at Mayo Clinic Florida where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Ringger thoroughly enjoys his work as a dermatologist and sees patients of all ages. He specializes in a variety of medical, surgical and procedural dermatologic techniques. Outside of the office Dr. Ringger occupies his time with his wife Erin and their four children.

W. Chad Cragun, M.D.
Dr. W. Chad Cragun, a western Washington native, is Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Business Management from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Dr. Cragun then went on to study medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After his first year of medical school, he was awarded the McGraw-Hill/Appleton & Lange Top Medical Student Award and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during his third year of medical school. He later completed his internship and Dermatology residency at the combined Army/Air Force training programs located at Brooke Army and Wilford Hall Medical Centers in San Antonio, Texas. During his last year of residency, Dr. Cragun had the distinguished honor to serve as the Chief Resident. Following his residency training, Dr. Cragun had the distinct experience of deploying to an austere area of Afghanistan as an infantry doctor with the 101st Airborne Division. Dr. Cragun is currently an Assistant Professor of Dermatology through the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Cragun practices medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. He loves patients of all ages. When not working, Dr. Cragun enjoys spending time with his wife, Molly, and their five kids.

Albert Reynaud, M.D.
Dr. Albert Reynaud is a Texas native and a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and served in the Army Medical Corps as Assistant Chief of Dermatology Services and Dermatology Preceptor at Fort Hood, Texas. Dr. Reynaud loves serving as a dermatologist and sees patients of all ages. Outside of the office Dr. Reynaud is the father of two children, and enjoys time with his wife and his two dogs boating and scuba diving.

Richard A. Flygare, PA-C, Ph.D
Richard A. Flygare, PA-C, Ph.D, joined the professional staff of North Idaho Dermatology in September 2000 and has been practicing since 1996. Richard received his bachelor degree in health sciences from Brigham Young University, and his Masters degree in clinical medicine from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his doctorate in health sciences at Touro University International in September, 2008, and is a diplomate of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. He provided full-time dermatology care at Fairchild AFB while serving with Stephen Craig, M.D., our chief of staff. Richard enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Richard is also an accomplished videographer who enjoys creating independent films.

Shannon K. Mortensen, NP
Shannon joined NID in 2002. She is a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner specializing in dermatology, laser and cosmetic procedures. She received both her BSN and MSN from Washington State University. She previously taught for the Intercollegiate Nursing School at Washington State University and worked at a local hospital. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and extended family. In her spare time she likes to scrapbook, read and run.

Lura Brown, P.A.-C.
Lura A. Brown, PA-C, joined North Idaho Dermatology in 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Trinity College of Vermont and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Rocky Mountain College in Montana. She is a member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Between growing up in Montana and spending time on the east coast, Lura has a great appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, biking (both road and mountain), water sports (river, lake, and ocean), skiing, snowshoeing and fly fishing. She also enjoys dance, travel, writing, and learning her guitar.

J. Aaron Nicholes, MBA
J. Aaron Nicholes Aaron is the Chief Operating Officer of North Idaho Dermatology. He joined the practice in 2000. He received his Bachelor of Science in International Business Management from Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus in 1993 and his Master of Management from Willamette University in 1995. He is a Member Nominee of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He enjoys studying World War II history, flying, cooking, and spending time with family.
