Meet the North Idaho Dermatology Team |
Stephen D. Craig, M.D.
Dr. Stephen D. Craig, an Idaho native, is a board-certified Dermatologist with the American Board of Dermatology. He received his medical training at the University of Utah, graduating in the top 5% of his class. He completed his internship at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, and was Chief Resident in Dermatology at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. He also served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Major. Dr. Craig opened North Idaho Dermatology in 1999 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to serve the needs of patients in North Idaho, Eastern Washington and Western Montana. Dr. Craig specializes in treating all age groups and a full range of dermatological conditions. He is married to Julie and has four children. In his spare time he enjoys family, fishing and Civil War history.
Jared M. Scott, M.D.
Dr. Scott is an Idaho native and completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Boise State University. He attended medical school in Seattle at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His dermatology training included residency at the University of Washington and, thereafter, a year-long fellowship in Mohs Micrographic & Dermatologic Surgery at Yale University. Dr. Scott is a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. Dr. Scott joined North Idaho Dermatology in February 2009.
Richard A. Flygare, PA-C, Ph.D
Richard A. Flygare, PA-C, Ph.D, joined the professional staff of North Idaho Dermatology in September 2000 and has been practicing since 1996. Richard received his bachelor degree in health sciences from Brigham Young University, and his Masters degree in clinical medicine from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his doctorate in health sciences at Touro University International in September, 2008, and is a diplomate of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. He provided full-time dermatology care at Fairchild AFB while serving with Stephen Craig, M.D., our chief of staff. Richard enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Richard is also an accomplished videographer who enjoys creating independent films.
Lura Brown, P.A.-C.
Lura A. Brown, PA-C, joined North Idaho Dermatology in 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Trinity College of Vermont and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Rocky Mountain College in Montana. She is a member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Between growing up in Montana and spending time on the east coast, Lura has a great appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, biking (both road and mountain), water sports (river, lake, and ocean), skiing, snowshoeing and fly fishing. She also enjoys dance, travel, writing, and learning her guitar.
Shannon K. Mortensen, NP
Shannon joined NID in 2002. She is a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner specializing in dermatology, laser and cosmetic procedures. She received both her BSN and MSN from Washington State University. She previously taught for the Intercollegiate Nursing School at Washington State University and worked at a local hospital. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and extended family. In her spare time she likes to scrapbook, read and run.
J. Aaron Nicholes, MBA
J. Aaron Nicholes Aaron is the Chief Operating Officer of North Idaho Dermatology. He joined the practice in 2000. He received his Bachelor of Science in International Business Management from Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus in 1993 and his Master of Management from Willamette University in 1995. He is a Member Nominee of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He enjoys studying World War II history, flying, cooking, and spending time with family.
